Yosemite National Park is almost 1200 square miles in area. Embracing a spectacular tract of mountain and valley scenery in the Sierra Nevada, it was set aside as a national park in 1890. The park harbors a grand collection of waterfalls, meadows, and forests that include groves of giant sequoias, the world's largest living things. In the heart of the park is the Yosemite Valley, which is only 7 miles long, up to a mile high, and a mile wide. On the way in, we drive up to Tunnel View to see most of Yosemite Valley, including El Capitan, Bridalveil Fall, and Half Dome. Driving on the south side of Merced River, you see Three Brothers, Sentinel Rock, Yosemite Falls, and the meadows. Past the Chapel and crossing the Sentinel Bridge, we reach Yosemite Lodge at 1:30PM where you will have a free time to get lunch. After lunch we’ll take you to the Glacier Point for a short hike to see the wonderful views of the Valley. On the way back to San Francisco we will make a stop at the small town of Groveland.
